Delhi-NCR AQI: The Air Quality Index in Delhi has taken a drastic turn since the last week of October with a thick layer of smog engulfing the city. This has instead impacted the areas of NCR in places like Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram where the AQI has crossed 400. Considering the situation, it is likely that schools in the region will remain closed. An official notification confirming the same is yet to be issued by officials.

It must be noted that schools in the Delhi-NCR region were closed for the Diwali holidays and reopened on Monday, November 4, 2024. Delhi CM Atishi in a recent announcement also declared school holidays on November 7, 2024, on the occasion of Chhath Puja.

With the air quality turned so bad, school authorities have avoided holding assemblies outside and cancelled outdoor activities in school including PT classes for the time being. Schools have also advised students to wear masks and parents have also been urged to take extra precautions advising them to avoid outdoor activities for their children during this time.
The months of October and November keep being a cause of concern for authorities as pollution in Delhi-NCR peaks during these months. AQI levels exceed more than 300 while some even cross 400 due to pollution. Over the years, considering the safety of the citizens, work-from-home options have been introduced while schools declare holidays until the AQI levels improve.
