School Holidays in November 2024: Check List of Holidays for the Month of November Here

November 2024 School Holidays: This year Diwali was celebrated on October 31, 2024. Schools however will remain closed in the first week of November as well in a few of the states considering Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj which is celebrated right after Diwali. 

Since both these occasions fall on a weekend, schools in several states will reopen after the Diwali holidays on November 4, 2024. The list of holidays for November 2025 however holidays do not end with Diwali as many states will be celebrating Chhat Puja on November 7, 2024, for which schools are expected to remain shut. Followed by Chhatt Puja is Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrated on November 15th which is a Friday hence schools will have a long weekend holiday. 

School Holiday November 2024: Chhat Puja - November 7th

Chhat Puja, is being celebrated on November 7, 2024. Delhi state government has announced school holidays for the schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the state. The festival is widely celebrated in states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh where schools will remain closed for a few days. Schools in Bihar will remain closed between November 6 and 8 for Chhath Puja and schools will reopen on November 11. 

School Holiday November 2024: Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartik Purnima - November 15th

Guru Nanak Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Schools are likely to remain shut in the northern states including Punjab and Delhi. Kartik Purnima is also being celebrated on the same date. 

School Holiday November 2024: Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji's Martyrdom Day - November 24th

Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s Martyrdom Day is being celebrated on November 24th. Since the holiday falls on a Sunday, schools will remain closed considering the weekend.
