Delhi School Closed Due to Pollution: The air quality in Delhi has touched the bottom. Parents and students are constantly looking for school closure updates as Delhi’s AQI is about to touch the 400 mark in many regions. It is very harmful to the health of everyone stepping out of their homes. A smoky haze surrounds them, camouflaging itself as fog. However, there is no official announcement of the Delhi school holidays as of now.
Many areas of Delhi including Shadipur, Punjabi Bagh, North Campus, Mundka, Wazirpur, IGI Airport, and Rohini are experiencing ‘very poor’ air quality. This issue is of major concern as it can lead to Asthma, Bronchitis, Lung Infections (e.g., pneumonia), Lung Cancer, Dementia, and many other diseases.
BJP Demands Closure of Delhi Schools Amidst Worsening AQI
Recently Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the Delhi government to shut down all schools up to 5th grade. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has expressed concern regarding student's safety against the deteriorating air quality in a press conference. They have asked the administration to close both government and private schools till 5th standard.
He was quoted saying, “The pollution levels in Delhi have reached hazardous levels. With PM 2.5 concentrations crossing 400 and PM 10 levels surpassing 1,000, it is clear that immediate action is required.''
Delhi School News Today: Outdoor Activities Restricted in Schools
As a precautionary measure, Delhi schools have restricted kids' outdoor exposure. Many of them are conducting indoor prayers, limiting playground visits, and wearing masks. However, this is not enough for the safety and well–being of students.
