ANI took the the microblogging site X to inform, ''Tamil Nadu | In Tirunelveli district, all schools to remain closed tomorrow, 21st December in wake of a flood-like situation. Colleges will function as usual but the colleges which were used as relief camps to remain closed.’’
Tamil Nadu School Holiday: Schools in Tirunelveli Closed, Exams Cancelled
Tirunelveli schools were also closed yesterday and the scheduled exams were postponed. The Tamil Nadu holiday was declared due to constant rainfall in several areas of the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi, Tiruvaneli, Tenskasi, and Kanyakumari districts.
Previously, Chennai Zonal Metrological Center warned against heavy rain in the districts of Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Kanyakumari because of a low atmospheric circulation that was present over the Maldives and the Southeast Arabian Sea.
Tamil Nadu School Holiday Due to Cyclone Michaung
On December 6, the districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kancheepuram were given a vacation by the Tamil Nadu government. Notably, on December 4 and 5, many areas in Tamil Nadu received notice of a school break. As Cyclone Michaung continued to wreak havoc, the authorities decided to extend the holiday.
