National Exit Test (NExT) exams for AYUSH stream students will be applicable from the 2021-22 batch as per the latest updates. Union Minister of State for Ayush Praptaprao Jadhav announced the AYUSH NExT exams in a press conference in Delhi. The decision to conduct the exam was taken after a meeting with representative students from BAMS/ BHMS about the issue of the NExT exam of NCISM and NCH.
A committee led by Sajeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur reviewed the concerns of students based on which it was recommended that the NExT exam be applicable for students enrolled under the National Commission for Indian SystemMedicinecine (NCISM) Act 2024 and the National Commission for Homeopathy (NCH) Act 2020. The review committee also ensures that the final structure of the exam aligns with the requirements of students all the while maintaining strict academic and professional standards.
NExT exams are mandatory requirements for students to obtain licensing and register in the state or national medical boards after completing their one-year internship. The exams will contain problem-based assessments evaluating clinical skills through case scenarios, images and videos ensuring that graduates possess both theoretical and practical knowledge.
Students clearing the NExT exam but yet to complete their internships will only be eligible for registration after completing the one-year mandatory internship. Jadhav, during the press conference, stated that the goal is to create a fair, transparent and high-quality framework for AYUSH education aligning with global standards ensuring public confidence in the healthcare system.
