Karnataka Hijab Row
Karnataka Hijab Row Protest erupted in the state’s Udupi District in December-end January, when a group of girl students were barred from attending classes. They alleged that the PU college had denied them access to education because of them wearing hijab. Following this incident, protest has erupted across the state in-favour and against wearing of religious dresses including Hijabs at the educational premises. This week pro and anti-hijab protesters clashed leading to violence and stone pelting at a few places following which schools were ordered to close down for next three days.
