Delhi School Reopening: Finally, the Delhi State Government has given its approval for reopening of schools for primary and upper primary class students. As per the latest update, Delhi Schools have been given permission to resume offline classes and Physical lectures for Nursery to Class 8 students from tomorrow i.e., 14th February – Monday. Earlier, DDMA – Delhi Disaster Management Authority had given it’s go ahead for allowing reopening of schools in the state and in line with it Offline Classes were resumed for Class 9 to 12 students from 7th February 2022 onwards.
Education to Continue in Hybrid Mode
While the state government has given permission to reopen schools for students of all classes, the state government has advocated hybrid mode of learning for students. This means that along with offline classes, students will also have the choice to attend online classes, in case they are not comfortable visiting schools. Furthermore, schools have been directed by the Delhi Government to prioritize ‘Well Being’ of students during the first two weeks of their return back to the campus. During period, students would be eased back into the physical mode of learning and are not anxious in physical school environment.
COVID-19 Guidelines and SOPs to be Followed
To ensure safe return of the students back to the classrooms, the state government has issued COVID-19 Guidelines and SOPs. The key among them are as follows:
- Mandatory Vaccination for Teachers: All teachers who would be conducting offline classes should have received both doses of COVID-19. Teachers who have not been inoculated against COVID will not be allowed on campus
- Sanitization: All areas within school campus are to be sanitized regularly
- Face Masks: All teachers, students and non-teaching staff members on campus are required to wear face masks at all the time
- Social Distancing: Students and Teachers are required to maintain at-least 6 feet of social distance between them. School authorities are required to make necessary seating arrangements keeping the same in mind
- Social Distancing in Common Areas: In addition to classroom, social distance is to be maintained between students, teachers and other members of the staff in common areas including staff rooms, office area, assembly hall and other common areas
- Staggered, Flexible Timings: Schools have been advised to keep class timing staggered and call in students in different batches to avoid crowding on campus at one time.
