As per the latest updates on the reopening of schools in Mumbai, after a state cabinet meeting conducted, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has allowed schools to reopen in Mumbai from January 24, 2022. Students from -pre-primary classes until class 12 will be allowed to come back for offline classes.
The BMC announced the decision to reopen the schools in Mumbai after state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray approved the reopening of schools in Maharashtra. The announcement regarding the reopening was also made by state School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad followed by an announcement by Aditya Thackeray.
The BMC has also changed the operating guidelines for all the schools with the announcement on the reopening of the schools. Students and parents are also advised to go through the guidelines carefully.
BMC School Reopening Guidelines
- According to the guidelines issued, it is not mandatory for everyone to attend classes offline. In case a student or parent does not want to opt for the offline classes, they can continue with the online class.
- Students coming back to the campus must have a ‘Consent Letter’ from their parents. Mumbai schools are also required to ensure that they collect the consent letters from the students before they reopen.
- Parents who have not submitted the consent forms will have to continue with the online classes for their children.
- The teaching and non-teaching staff are required to come to school to prepare for the reopening and this rule must be implemented keeping in mind all COVID guidelines.
- School premises must be disinfected and sanitized and it must be done at regular intervals.
- The vaccination drive for children must continue and students in schools under the BMC area should be vaccinated.
- Schools can consult the BMC or private health centres for the vaccination drive.
