While the state government has given its nod to permit reopening of schools for all classes from 24th January 2022 onwards, the final decision regarding this has been left to the local or district authorities. Maharashtra – 1st State to Reopen Schools amid 3rd Wave of COVID-19

Following this decision, Maharashtra Government has become the first state government in the country to reopen schools even as the 3rd Wave of COVID-19 remain quite a serious concern. The decision of the state government, in part seems to be motivated by the concerns shared by several stakeholders including some students groups and politicians as well. In several letters of appeals received by Maharashtra CM, parents association had pointed out the massive educational loss being incurred by the students due to the closure of schools.
