Right to Education Fee Reimbursements Delayed for 15,000 Noida Students
Reimbursements for nearly 15,000 RTE students in Noida have been pending for months, with officials citing delays in submitting and verifying student details
Fee reimbursements for nearly 15,000 students studying in more than 450 private schools in Noida under the Right to Education (RTE) Act have been delayed for several months.
The Uttar Pradesh government has released around Rs 15 crore for reimbursement for the 2026-27 academic session. Of this, nearly Rs 7.5 crore is earmarked for students, while the remaining amount is intended for private schools.
The funds are yet to reach the beneficiaries as the verification and documentation process is still being completed.
Financial Support Under RTE
Under Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, private schools are required to reserve 25 per cent of their seats for children belonging to economically weaker and disadvantaged sections.
Eligible RTE students are entitled to Rs 5,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to meet expenses related to uniforms, textbooks, workbooks, stationery and school bags.
Private schools are also eligible for reimbursement of Rs 450 per student per month towards educational expenses.

Delay Linked to School Submissions
Education department officials said the delay has largely been linked to incomplete or delayed submission of student details by private schools.
Schools were instructed to submit the required information by July 10 to enable officials to verify the claims and process the reimbursements. However, several schools reportedly failed to provide complete information within the deadline, affecting the payment process.
Officials said the verification process is being completed before the funds are transferred to eligible beneficiaries and schools.
Funds Expected to Be Released
BEO Rahul Panwar said the relevant file has been signed by the district magistrate and the funds are expected to be released within a week.
Once the transfer process begins, eligible students and private schools will receive the respective reimbursements after completion of the required formalities.
Parents and Schools Await Payments
The delay has caused difficulties for some families who rely on the reimbursement to meet their children's educational expenses. Parents have reported having to arrange money for books, notebooks and other school requirements while waiting for the payments.
Private schools have also raised concerns over delayed reimbursements. Schools say they continue to bear expenses including staff salaries, electricity, maintenance and teaching materials while waiting for the government payments.
The authorities are now expected to complete the remaining verification and release the pending reimbursements to eligible students and schools.
