It sets fixed uniform colours for the teaching staff and makes identity cards compulsory on duty. Scroll the article for more details.

What the New Teacher Uniform Includes

The prescribed colours for the teachers’ uniforms are light lilac and lilac purple and navy blue. Black is fixed for footwear and the designated accessories. Women teachers have several options. They can wear a saree with a blazer. They can wear a kurta or a kameez with pants. They can wear a plazo or salwar with a blazer. They can also wear a shirt and trouser with a tie and a blazer. Men teachers will wear a shirt and trousers with a tie and a blazer. Every teacher must wear an identity card while on duty. The school or departmental logo must be displayed on the blazer. The rule applies to all teachers and principals. It also covers staff hired on an outsourced basis.

Why the State Rolled Out the Dress Code

The guidelines aim to bring one standardised dress code across CBSE schools in the state. The fixed colours and attire will ensure uniformity among the teaching staff. The identity card rule and the logo display will help build a common dress standard across institutions. The plan came a few weeks after a proposal during an official Education Department meeting. The meeting was chaired by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The CM had also said that all school buildings should be painted in olive green and sand beige shades. The state government has allocated Rs 80 crore to upgrade infrastructure and improve facilities in CBSE schools. This money is meant to strengthen support for both students and teachers. The Chief Minister had also announced an extra Rs 5 crore. This fund will improve the learning environment and bring quality education closer to home.
