West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the number of seats for the MBBS programme. According to the announcement made by the Chief Minister the number of seats for the MBBS programme has been increased to 4000 in the state medical colleges after the addition of 250 seats in the medical colleges in the state. The Chief Minister earlier emphasised on the idea of increasing the number of medical seats in the state.
The state chief minister Mamata Banerjee took to social media to inform the students of the increase in the number of MBBS seats. The chief minister in the announcement stated that 4000 MBBS seats have been increased for the students nursing the MBBS degree in the state. She further stated that the first MBBS batch in Purulia Government MCH will be initiated with 100 seats and an additional 150 MBBS seats in Gouri Devi Medical College.
The Minister of State for Health - Chandrima Bhattacharya informed the state assembly that the number of MBBS seats in West Bengal was1355 when the government came into power in the state in 2011.
MBBS Counselling
The Candidates who have qualified the NEET 2020 examinations will be eligible to participate in the counselling procedure. The Directorate General Health Services will be conducting the NEET Counselling for the 15 per cent seats of the total number of seats from all the government colleges except the students from Jammu and Kashmir for the All India Quota candidates.
Directorate General Health Services will be releasing the NEET counselling 2020 dates soon on behalf of the Medical counselling Committee on the official website. The counselling schedule is expected to be released on the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee soon.
