Union Cabinet Approves STARS Project: As per the official announcement, the Union Cabinet approved World Bank supported STARS project, which is an initiative aimed at improving educational outcomes in the country. The Strengthening Teaching- Learning and Results for States – STARS project will support the states for improving education outcomes in 6 states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan & others. The STARS project under the New Education Policy - NEP 2020, will be implemented as a centrally sponsored scheme under the aegis of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education.
STARS Project for 6 States
As per the information shared officially, the STARS project will be launched in 6 states with an aim to improve educational outcomes. The total cost of the project supported by the World Bank is Rs 5718 crore. The beneficiary states for the project are Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Odisha.
The project will help the states in developing, implementing, evaluating & improving interventions with direct linkages to improved education outcomes and school to work transition strategies for improved labour market outcomes.
Major Push for NEP 2020
In the press briefing held today, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar informed media persons that Modi Government is committed to transforming the education sector of the country in line with the newly launched National Education Policy 2020. As part of the several measures launched in this direction, a major push will be provided with the cabinet approval to Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States (STARS) project.
