TN NEET Counselling 2020: On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami ordered for the creation of a revolving fund for government school students allotted seats in medical colleges through TN NEET seat allotment 2020. The fund to be created is for payment of fees of such students from Government schools and have been allotted seats in private medical and dental colleges in the state under the government's 7.5 horizontal quota on TN NEET 2020 counselling.
The Revolving Fund - What does it Cover?
The directive for creation of the TN revolving fund has been given to the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation. Under this fund, the corporation has been asked to settle the tuition and hostel fees of such student directly with the respective colleges. Chief Minister Palaniswami was quoted saying that the measure is aimed towards giving effect to his earlier announcement made on 18th November 2020 with regards to providing post-matric scholarship and other financial assistance to all students from government schools who have allotted seats in undergraduate courses under the 7.5% quota.
Post Matric Scholarship for the 7.5% Horizontal Reservation
The Tamil Nadu Chief had earlier announced that the Government will bear the tuition fees of government school students who are granted admission in private medical colleges under the 7.5% horizontal reservation. The CM had also announced post-matric scholarship and other financial aid as financially weaker students from Government schools and also from Corporation, Adi Dravidar, Tribal Welfare, Municipality, Kallar Denotified Tribes schools and Forest Department schools are not in a position financially to fund their higher studies
