Schools Reopening: As the second wave of the COVID-19 has almost receded, schools and educational institutes in most states have reopened, with restrictions, for students in senior classes. Schools in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi have started offline classes for students from today with COVID-19 restrictions. Know state-list here

Schools Reopening: As per the updates, many schools and educational institutes in most states have reopened, with restrictions, for students in senior classes. However, for the safety of the students and the teaching and non-teaching staff attending the educational institutions, several safety measures related to COVID-19 are to be strictly followed. Although classes in offline mode will reopen from today, 1st September many states have stated that online classes will continue. It will be up to parents and students whether they want to continue studies from their homes or at schools.

The students and the teachers attending schools have been arranged in a staggered manner and maintaining physical distance between students in classrooms and teachers in staff rooms is mandatory. Apart from this use of face masks, sanitisers, frequent handwashing and respiratory etiquette are made compulsory. Check below the list of states that are reopening schools for offline classes.

List of States Reopened Schools for Offline Classes

  • Madhya Pradesh: The state government has opened schools for offline classes from today for the students of Classes 6th to 12th. Earlier, the government had allowed students of Classes 9th to 12th to attend schools in offline mode. Also, it is necessary for students to bring consent from their parents. School management and parents must ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
  • Tamil Nadu: Schools in the state for the students of classes 9th to 12th, colleges and polytechnics has reopened from today. Also, offline classes will start for both medical and professional colleges in the state from today. The Tamil Nadu government has released a new set of regulations that has allowed college and school students of classes 9th to 12th to travel free (without a bus pass) to their institutions in transport corporation buses.
  • Delhi: Several schools in the national capital has resumed offline classes from today. Although the government has allowed the reopening of Delhi schools for Classes 9th to 12th, colleges and coaching institutions from today, the government had clarified that no student will be forced to attend physical classes. Also, to attend classes the consent of parents is mandatory.
  • Rajasthan: The schools have reopened for classes 9th to 12th from today. Classes will be conducted in sessions and 50% of students have been allowed to attend classes in each session. To avoid gathering all students at the same time, schools have been directed to keep separate arrival and departure timings of students from different classes.
  • Uttar Pradesh: Schools in the state have resumed offline classes for the students of Class 1st to 5th from today. The state has already allowed physical classes in schools for students of classes 9 to 12 from 16th August and Classes 6th to 8th from 23rd August.
  • Telangana: In this state, the schools have been resumed in offline classes in schools from today. The High Court has allowed the reopening of schools while staying the physical reopening of government residential schools. The Telangana High Court has also directed that no child studying in any class will be compelled by any school management to physically attend offline classes if his or her parent is not inclined to send the child to school.
  • Meghalaya: All colleges have started in Meghalaya, along with schools for classes 9th to 12th in urban areas. For rural areas, on-campus lectures will recommence for standards 6th to 12th.
