Karnataka Schools Closed: Schools in Karnataka’s Udupi, Dakshina Kannada Districts will remain closed today, August 1, as per the order issued by the district administration of Dakshina Kannada. Schools, Anganwadis and Pre-university colleges upto class 12 will remain closed today considering the orange alert issued and the heavy rains expected.
The Deputy Commissioner, Mullai Muhilan has also issued a warning to fishermen not to venture into the sea for fishing on August 1 and advised people to avoid low-lying areas and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of citizens. The deputy commissioner has also urged residents to stay indoors and follow official instructions.
Parents are also advised to ensure that children avoid low-lying areas, lakes, seashores, and riverbanks and keep in touch with school officials for updates on the school holiday.
Schools in Karnataka were closed on July 31, 2024, for Anganwadis, schools and pre-university colleges due to the red alert issued by IMD. The state had earlier declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Sirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur, Dandeli and Joisa talukas on July 16 considering the red alert issued by IMD.
