Odisha Schools Closed: The Odisha state government has announced holidays for schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions in a few districts due to Cyclone Dana. According to the official notification shared, schools in Ganjam Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Khordha, Nayagarh and Cuttack districts of Odisha will remain closed until October 25, 2024. Schools will reopen on October 28, 2024.
As per reports, Cyclone Dana is expected to hit the coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha. The IMD has issued alerts from October 24th night to October 25th morning for both the states.
A notification has also been issued for the closure of colleges and universities in 14 districts in Odisha including Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Khordha, Nayagarh and Cuttack from October 23 to 25, 2024.
The Special Relief Commissioner DK Singh has asked the School and Mass Education Department to close schools. IMD has issued a red alert and predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall with lightning in Khurda, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur districts on October 24.
