The Patna district administration has extended the summer holidays for schools in Patna. As per the revised dates, schools will remain closed for students up to class 8 until June 19, 2024. The school holiday has been extended due to the ongoing heatwave conditions in the state.
Patna is experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 44 degree Celsius in 10 locations. The India Meteorological Department has also predicted that the heatwave conditions will continue for the next two or three days.
Patna DM Shirsat Kapil Ashok in an order issued has stated that all government and private schools in the district will remain closed on June 18 and 19 for students upto class 8. Teachers and non-teaching staff are also required to be present in the school/ office and perform their required duties. A few of the private schools in Patna have already extended the summer vacations until June 22 due to the severe heatwave condition.
A senior official of the Bihar Disaster Management Department has asked the people to avoid heat exposure, stay cool and prevent dehydration. The maximum temperature recorded in other locations includes Aurangabad at 46.9-degree Celsius, Buxar at 46.6 degrees Celsius, Dehri and Arwal at 46.4 degrees Celsius, Bhojpur at 46.2 degrees Celsius, Gaya and Bikramganj at 45.4 degrees Celsius, Vaishali and Rajgir at 44.3-degree celsius and Nawada at 44-degree celsius.
Chhattisgarh School Summer Vacation Extended till June 25
The Chhattisgarh government has also extended the summer vacation dates for schools in the state until June 25. The schools will remain closed owing to the increasing heat and temperatures in the state.
The maximum temperature recorded in Raipur and Rajnandgaon was 39 degrees Celsius. The summer break for schools in the state was earlier decided from April 22 to June 15, 2024. Considering the health of students due to the severe heat conditions the state government has extended the summer vacation until June 25.
