Odisha School Reopening Postponed: As per the latest update, School Reopening for Primary and Upper Primary Class Students in Odisha has been deferred. Going by the official announcement, the Odisha State Government has decided to postpone the reopening Schools for Class 1 to 7 Students for now. The decision to defer reopening of primary schools in the state has been taken keeping in mind the upcoming Panchayat Elections. As per the earlier direction of Odisha Govt, Schools were to reopen for physical classes from 14th February, which now has been deferred by another two weeks until 28th February 2022.
School Reopening Deferred due to Panchayat Polls
As reported earlier, the decision to postpone reopening of schools in Odisha was taken in the light of the upcoming Panchayat Polls. Odisha Panchayat Elections are to be held in 5 phase throughout the state – on 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th February 2022. To avoid causing any inconvenience to the students during the Panchayat Polls, the state government has decided to defer reopening of Primary and Upper Primary Schools. In addition to this, media reports have suggested that District Collectors had also requested postponement of reopening of schools for Class 1 to 7 students as they would need more time to complete campus sanitization activities.
Online Classes to Continue Until 28th February
While schools reopening for Class 1 to 7 students has been cancelled for now, but the state government has directed schools to continue with online classes and virtual learning modes. This means that online classes will continue for all students of Class 1 to 7 until Feb-end to ensure there is no academic loss for the students. While School Reopening has been postponed by two weeks, the order is only applicable to school students and not teachers. Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members have been allowed to visit school to complete preparations for reopening and resumption of offline classes.
