Odisha School Holiday Announced: The Odisha government has announced a public holiday on January 17, 2024, given the Srimandir Parikrama Project Inauguration. According to the chief minister’s office (CMO), all educational institutions and government offices will remain closed on the day as devotees from across the state are expected to participate in the inauguration of the Jagannath Heritage Corridor project. The corridor project includes parking places, Shree Setu (a bridge), pilgrimage centres, a new road to facilitate the movement of pilgrims, and other visitors’ amenities in and around the Jagannath temple in Puri. Parents and students may contact the school administration for any queries.
Odisha School Holiday: CM’s Message For Devotees
As stated earlier, school teachers, students, staff, and all government employees are advised to take note of the announcement. CM Naveen Patnaik has announced the holiday on January 17 to facilitate the participation of devotees travelling from across the country for the event.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has invited representatives from 90 religious shrines and institutions nationwide to attend the inauguration ceremony on January 17.
Schools in UP, Chhattisgarh and Goa Closed On Jan 22
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all schools and colleges in the state to remain shut on January 22, 2024, in the wake of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The state governments of Goa and Chhattisgarh have also declared January 22 as a public holiday to celebrate the consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
