NEET UG Results 2024: The National Testing Agency has issued a clarification regarding the NEET UG 2024 results. Contrary to the official schedule released, the NEET UG 2024 result was announced 10 days ahead of schedule. The results which were expected to be announced on June 14, 2024, were announced on June 4, 2024. This however sparked controversies and rumors regarding malpractice in the NEET UG exams and the announcement of results.

Cut-off of NEET (UG) 2024
NTA in its official notification has mentioned that the NEET cutoffs are determined based on the performance of students. The increase in cutoff marks shows how competitive the medical entrance examination has become over the years. The cutoffs are the average marks scored by qualified students out of 720. The cutoff marks over the years are given below

Grace Marks for Loss of Time
After the NEET UG exams on May 5, 2024, a few students filed a Writ Petition in the Punjab and Haryana, Delhi and Chhattisgarh High Court concerning loss of time during the exams at a few of the centres. The concerns and the writ petition filed were taken into consideration for redressal and the Grievance Redressal Committee was formed to look into the representations and submit recommendations.
Factual reports of the functionaries and CCTV footage from the concerned exam centres were taken and loss of exam time was ascertained. These candidates were compensated with marks based on their answering efficiency and the time lost. 1563 candidates were compensated for the loss of time and the revised marks of the candidates range from 20 to 720. Among these the scores of two candidates happens to be 718 and 719 due to the compensatory marks.

NEET UG Toppers 2024
Along with the announcement of the NEET UG 2024 result, the top concern of students was the increase in the number of candidates who secured AIR 1. According to the clarification issued by NTA, the number of candidates who appeared for the exam in 2023 was 20,38,596 which increased to 23,33,297 in 2024. The increase in candidates has led to the increase in the scores.
After the announcement of the provisional answer key, NTA received 12,373 challenges to one question in Physics. Due to the difference in the old and new edition of the NCERT textbooks, subject experts concluded that two options be taken as correct in place of one for the particular question. From the 67 students who scored 720/720, 44 were ranked 1st because of the revision in the answer key for Physics and 6 were ranked AIR 1 due to the compensatory marks for loss of time.
NEET UG 2024 Result Date
The NEET UG results are declared at the earliest upon the completion of the necessary check in the result processing after the answer key challenge window is closed, NTA clarified. NTA managed to declare the results for over 23 lakh students within 30 days. The JEE Main 2024 session 1 results were announced in 11 days and the session 2 was declared in 15 days, NTA added.
The NEET UG 2024 results were processed as per the procedure followed adopted for all the exams. All necessary information is also provided through the Advance City Intimation, Admit Card, Advisories for examination, display of scanned copies of OMRs and recorded responses to the candidates, inviting objections to Provisional Answer Keys, publishing Final Answer Keys on the Official website and sending scanned OMR Answer Sheets and Score Card through emails. Relevant statistics are also shared with the candidates and public through regular briefings/press releases which have been followed for the NEET (UG) 2024 exam.
Clarification Regarding Unfair Means
Action taken by the conducting body with regard to unfair means cases are as per the existing rules which include cancellation of candidature and debarment from further exams of NTA. Cases have been registered by the NTA against impersonators while some have been registered by the state police. Support has also been extended to whatever requirements have been made to the agency regarding the investigation of cases pertaining to the NEET UG 2024 exams.
NTA has clarified that the outcome of the investigation in the cases registered is yet awaited and have also denied any allegations on paper leak. A press release was also issued after the exams stating that no paper leak has been reported as circulated on social media.
Students who have cleared their NEET UG 2024 exam will be eligible to apply for the NEET UG counselling process. The counselling is conducted for the All India Quota and the state Quota seats. Details regarding the counselling process is expected soon.
