NEET UG 2021: As per the recent updates, the Supreme Court of India ordered today that a three-member panel will review the alleged error in the Hindi translation of a Physics question asked in the NEET 2021 exam. The centre will file an affidavit mentioning the result of the evaluation by the committee, the top court said. The matter will be heard again on 30th November 2021 (Tuesday). A Bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud was hearing a plea filed by a group of undergraduate Medical aspirants who requested the Supreme Court’s direction to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the NEET result again.
The plea filed before the apex court has challenged the answer to question number 2 of the Physics section (A) alleging alleging "discrepancy and patent error".
Question Wrongly Translated in Hindi
The crux of the matter with regards to Question No 2 of Physics Section (A) has to do with the wrong translation of the question in the Hindi Language. The petitioner states that the said question was translated incorrectly leading to confusion among the candidates with regards to the answer. The petitioners said the question put Hindi speaking students at a "disadvantageous position", "jeopardizing their future".
The petition states that during the translation from English to Hindi, the words "amplitude of current" had been omitted from the question. Therefore, those candidates who attempted the question in Hindi arrived at a different answer due to the incorrect translation and incomplete question.
Delete Question, Re-release NEET Results
The petition filed before the apex court seeks directions from the court to the NTA – National Testing Agency to delete the question which was found to be erroneous. Furthermore, along with the deletion of the question, the petition also demands revision and re-release of the NEET 2021 UG Results before the start of the admission process. A bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the case today.

NTA Policy on Translation of Questions
While the petitioners have moved Supreme Court demanding relief in the matter; NTA already has put in place the necessary policy as far as translation of question is concerned. The NTA’s policy in this regard states that “in the case of a translation error, the English version of the question is treated as final.” While the policy was well explained in the NEET UG 2021 exam notification, any issue pertaining to the examination can be challenged in the court of law and that is the route that the petitioners seem to have preferred.
