NEET UG 2021: National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) result 2021. As per the reports, this year, a total of 15.44 candidates had appeared for the medical entrance exam, out of which, around 8.70 lakh have qualified. Those who could not secure the minimum qualifying marks must have come across the possible options of medical courses apart from MBBS after taking the NEET UG. Even those who prepare for the medical entrance test should know the medical courses other than MBBS. Appearing for NEET and qualifying for the test is not easy.
However, qualifying NEET gives a candidate the option to choose from a variety of courses, such as MBBS, BDS and AYUSH. From this year onwards, NEET scores will also be used for BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences admission. Here is a list of some courses that use NEET scores for admission in medical programmes. By taking a look at the medical courses other than MBBS, candidates will know that there are endless career options in the field of medicine.
List of Courses other than MBBS that Requires NEET Scores
BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences: As per the recent notification, from this year, BSc Nursing and BSc Life sciences admission will be given based on NEET scores. The NTA has released a notification regarding the eligibility criteria for admission to these courses. Banaras Hindu University, JIPMER and some other institutes have also released a notification stating that there will be no separate entrance exam for BSc Nursing admission this year. The admission will be based on NEET 2021 result.
AYUSH Admission: For AYUSH Admissions, the Central Counselling Committee(AACCC) under the Ministry of AYUSH conducts counselling for BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS seats under the AIQ. Last year, these included seats in government, government-aided, deemed universities, central universities, national institutes and internal seats of Delhi University. States conducted their counselling for the 85% seats. Also, counselling for all India quota seats of private institutes, other than deemed universities, was conducted by counselling authorities of the respective state, UT governments. BDS Admission: For admission to this course, states conduct their own counselling, for 85% of seats, based on their eligibility and reservation norms. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is responsible for counselling of the centrally-funded institutions and seats in state-run institutions surrendered towards the 15% all India quota. Medical seats in India are divided into AIQ and state quotas in a 15:85 ratio. NEET 2021 AIQ counselling will be conducted at mcc.nic.in.
BVSc, AH Admission: For admission to these courses, the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) conducts counselling for admission to BVSc and AH courses under 15 per cent AIQ seats. The admission will be done based on NEET UG scores. Last year, seats were allotted to candidates as per their rank in NEET, choice, availability, reservation policy, and other criteria.
