Mumbai Schools Closed Today: A holiday has been announced for schools in Mumbai today, December 6, 2023. According to reports, a few of the schools will remain closed today on the occasion of the death anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar which is being considered a local holiday in Mumbai. The state government in its announcement cleared that the holiday will apply to all government and semi-government offices in the city and the suburbs.
This is the third local holiday announced by the Maharashtra state government after Anant Chaturdashi announced in 1996 and Dahi Handi since 2007. The death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar is known as Mahaparinirvana Divas. As per reports, the local holiday is likely to be an annual feature from now onwards although the district collectorates will be issuing a fresh notification every year.
As per reports, a school holiday has been announced for local areas. However, a clear directive has not been issued and schools around Dadar’s Shivaji Park and a few suburban areas will remain closed considering the crowd that is expected to gather at Chaitya Bhoomi in Shivaji Park.
Tamil Nadu School Holiday
Due to Cyclone Michaung, schools across parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts will be closed today, December 6, 2023. Schools have been closed in the state for the last few days owing to the cyclone, waterlogging, and flood-like situation. Students and parents are advised to contact the school authorities for further updates.
