Maharashtra Bandh on August 24: Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has announced a Maharashtra Bandh tomorrow, August 24, 2024. The bandh has been announced in protest against the Badlapur School sexual harassment incident. Schools in some regions in the state are likely to remain closed while public transportation is also expected to be affected due to the Bandh announced. Students and parents are however advised to keep in touch with the school administration for status on the functioning of the school tomorrow.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray called it a non-political move and urged everyone to unite for the "safety of our daughters". The Bandh is being organised by MVA and its allies Congress, Udhav Thackrey-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP.
It must be noted that most of the schools in the state remain closed on Saturday.

An official confirmation from officials regarding the closure of essentials is yet to be made. According to reports, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the government will go ahead with the public function to promote the ambitious Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana at Yavatmal in the state's Vidarbha region.

About the bandh, it must be noted that an official announcement for the closure of schools has not been issued by the state government. However, public transport is likely to be affected. As a precautionary measure, students and parents are advised to remain in touch with the school administration. Schools under such conditions usually opt to conduct classes online. A confirmation on the same will be issued by authorities.
