Madhya Pradesh Colleges to Reopen from January: As per the latest update, Madhya Pradesh State Government has decided to reopen colleges and universities from 1st January 2021 in a phased manner. The news about reopening of colleges in the state from New Year onwards was confirmed by the State Education Minister Mohan Yadav. As part of the reopening process, the state government has asked colleges to follow all the COVID precautions and guidelines to ensure health, safety and well-being of the students and staff members. The news was confirmed by the Minister in a small video message shared via social media website twitter.
Phase-wise Plan for Reopening
As per the announcement made by State Education Minister, Higher Education Institutions in the state are to be opened in a phase-wise manner. In line with this, from 1st January 2020 onwards, colleges have been permitted to allow students from science streams to visit campus with upto 50% of the total strength. Following this, from 10th January 2020 onwards, Undergraduate and Postgraduate final year classes will be resumed in colleges across the state. After reviewing the situation post partial reopening of colleges; the state government will take a final decision to reopen colleges from 20th January for other classes.
Schools to Reopen from 18th December
Earlier, the state government had also decided to allow partial reopening of schools in the state from 18th December 2020. From mid-December, the state government has permitted schools to hold in-person classes for Class 10 and 12 students to ensure that they are ready for the upcoming board exams. On the other hand, for students of Classes 1 to 8, schools will continue to remain closed till 31st March 2021. This decision was announced by School Education Minister Indersingh Parmar on December 8.
