Radio Classes in Kashmir: The Department of School Education in Kashmir will be starting radio classes from today. This initiative has been taken for students of classes 5 to 8 due to the absence of physical classwork in schools. Also, this will help them in continuing their studies even in the times of COVID-19. The Director of School Education, Kashmir has sought the cooperation of all stakeholders for the successful implementation of the programme in the better interests of the students.
Timings of Radio Classes
As per an official statement by the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, the radio classes will begin today. The schedule for class 8 shall be from 10 to 10:30 am, for class 7 from 11:30 am to 12 pm, for class 6 from 12 pm to 12.30 pm and for class 5 from 3:30 to 4 pm. Last Year Radio Classes
Last year too, the Jammu and Kashmir education department has started radio classes to help students in the Doha district. This initiative was taken due to the lack of availability of high-speed internet access and smartphones in some households. The local station of All India Radio - AIR Bhadarwah, which covers almost the entire Doda district, is airing one-and-a-half hours of educational content daily.
For the welfare of students, the authorities had started online classes and accordingly, all the schools of the district were linked with it. However, data collected by the education department showed that only 55 percent of students in the district had access to the internet and smartphones. Therefore, they initiated lessons on the radio for the students.
Jammu and Kashmir Board Exams
The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Board has cancelled the remaining JKBOSE class 10 Board exams and postponed the class 12 Board exams because of the rising COVID-19 cases. Students of class 10th to be promoted based on internal assessment and their performance in the board exams that have already been conducted.
