Karnataka School Reopening News: Taking into account the rising cases of Coronavirus in the state, Karnataka State Government has announced a 3-week Holiday for schools from 12th to 30th October 2020. As per the official directions, the three-week mid-term holiday will be applicable to all schools and all activities within the school will remain restricted during this period. The decision has been announced by Karnataka CM Yediyurappa in the wake of rising number of COVID cases in the state.
Announcement made by CM Yediyurappa
The decision about 3-week Holiday for schools was formally announced by the Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Sunday – 11th October 2020. While announcing his decision, Chief Minister noted “Schools across Karnataka would have a three-week holiday from Monday over reports that many teachers were infected with Covid in some districts.” He also added that officials from the education department have been directed to make arrangements for the same. In an order, Yediyurappa said, “I have come to know through media reports that several teachers have been infected with COVID-19. Therefore, officials gave been directed to issue an order to declare a three-week-long mid-term holiday in the best interest of the health of students and teachers.”
Vidyagama scheme Suspended
The decision about announcement of three-week long mid-term vacation in the schools, was announced in the back-drop of suspension of Vidyagama scheme. Earlier last week, the State’s Primary and Secondary Education Department had announced that Vidyagama scheme, unveiled to teach students of the state-run schools during the pandemic stands suspended. The decision was taken after 34 students in Belagavi and Kalaburagi districts in the state tested positive for COVID-19.
