Karnataka PGCET 2020 examinations postponed, Revised dates to be released soon

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan has announced that the Karnataka PGCET 2020 examinations have been postponed. The revised dates for the Karnataka PGCET 2020 exams will be notified soon.

Karnataka PGCET 2020 exams postponed

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan have announced that the Karnataka PGCET 2020 examinations have been postponed. According to the notification released, the Karnataka PGCET 2020 which was scheduled to be conducted on August 8, 2020, and the Diploma CET 2020 exams scheduled to be conducted on August 9, 2020, have been postponed. The revised schedule will be made available soon. 

According to the tweet by the education minister, the Karnataka PGCET 2020 exams have been postponed due to the final examinations being delayed. 

The Karnataka PGCET 2020 examination is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority for the admissions to the MBA, MCA, M.Arch, M.E/M.Tech programmes which are offered in the colleges across the state. The candidates who qualify the Karnataka PGCET 2020 examinations will be eligible for the admissions to the different programmes.

Karnataka CET examinations 

The Authorities recently announced that the students and parents arriving in the state to appear for the Karnataka CET 2020 on July 30 and 31, 2020 will have a 96-hour quarantine exemption. The students appearing for the examinations from containment zones or are COVID-19 positive will also be allowed to appear for the KCET 2020 examinations in separate rooms. The authorities have also stated that the guidelines issued by the Health Department of Karnataka will be followed while conducting the entrance examinations. 

The examination centres for KCET 2020 examinations will also be sanitized as per the norms to be followed. 

PIL Filed in Karnataka High Court

However, student group NSUI has filed a PIL in the Karnataka High Court demanding for the postponement of the KCET 2020 entrance examinations due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. It is estimated that roughly 1.95 lakh candidates have registered for the KCET 2020 examinations to be conducted on July 30 and 31, 2020. The PIL filed in the court has come during a time where concerns are being voiced with regard to the health of the parents and the safety of the students who will be appearing for the entrance examinations.
