Karnataka Colleges Reopening Update: End the cycle of uncertainty, the Karnataka State Government has announced that it plans to reopen Colleges across the state from 26th July 2021. As of now the state government has decided to allow only partial reopening of college in Karnataka. For now the state government has permitted reopening of colleges only for students and staff members who have received atleast one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The State Government has asked the Higher Education Department to come up with the detailed guidelines and SOPs for the reopening process, which will be released soon by the state government.

The news about Karnataka state government permitted reopening of colleges in Karnataka has been confirmed by the ANI News agency. In a tweet sent from its official account, ANI noted that “"At a meeting of CM BS Yediyurappa with ministers & govt officials, it has been decided that institutes of higher education will be allowed to reopen from July 26, only vaccinated persons (partially or fully) will be given entry."
Earlier on 16th July - Friday, the Karnataka Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwathnarayan had also hinted about the state government mulling the idea about reopening of colleges in the state. At that time, Mr Ashwathnarayan had said that final decision in this regards should be expected in 3-4 days. In his statement to the press, he had further added that 65% of the students studying in government, government-aided, private institutions had been vaccinated. In line with this, today the state government has announced reopening of colleges from 26th July 2021.
Medical Colleges Reopen in Karnataka
Karnataka Medical Colleges Reopening: As per the latest update, the Karnataka State Government has directed all Medical Colleges as well as Dental and AYUSH colleges to reopen across the state with immediate effect. The announcement permitting reopening of Medical Colleges in Karnataka was made by Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar on Friday evening. The announcement comes amid demands from medical, dental and AYUSH colleges across the state to reopen with the COVID-19 case numbers falling rapidly in July 2021.
