Karnataka College Reopening News: The Department of Higher Education, Karnataka, has outlined the SOPs for opening colleges in the state from 17th November 2020 onwards. The Standard Operating Procedures for reopening of colleges in Karnataka have been formulated as per the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission. The engineering, degree and diploma colleges in the state will reopen in the state from the scheduled date.
Official Statement
As informed by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Dr CN Ashwatha Narayana, preparations are in process for starting of the offline classes in the state of Karnataka. He said that the SOPs has a separate set of advisories for final year students and students in the first and second year of college and classes will be conducted in the colleges accordingly.
Karnata College Reopening SOP Guidelines
The SOP guidelines for reopening colleges in Karnataka include:
- Practising of social distancing while conducting physical classes by taking into account the total number of students and number of classes available as per the guidelines by the health department and present advisories. The time table for the classes to be prepared at the college level itself keeping all such aspects in mind.
- Students unwilling to attend physical classes can attend classes online as the facility will be available.
- Practical, project as well as teaching classes to be conducted in shifts, if necessary.
- Contact classes to be conducted every day to facilitate clarification of any doubts of the students.
- Teaching faculty to prepare study materials for one month duration based on each period/session and mandatorily send it to students by means of Telegram/WhatsApp/email.
- Study materials to be prepared in the form of PowerPoint presentations, video lectures, audiobooks, e-notes, e-books, practise questions, etc., and to be uploaded on the official website of the college mandatorily.
- Final year and postgraduate students who attend offline classes to bring a signed letter of consent from the guardian.
- All students exclusive of final year and postgraduate, who attend online/contact classes can stay in hostels located on-campus or off-campus.
- The guidelines also include cleansing of buildings, entrance, furniture, sanitization, COVID-19 test of students, teaching faculty and non-teaching staff.
