JEE Main 2025: Exam Pattern Revised, Optional Questions In Section B Scrapped, Check Details Here

JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern: The National Testing Agency recently announced the discontinuation of optional questions in Section B of the JEE Main exam. The optional section was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2025 exams expected to be held in January and April 2025 will no longer have the flexibility to choose 5 out of 10 questions in Section B. The changes introduced apply to the JEE Main 2025 paper 1 (BE and BTech) and Paper 2A (BArch) and 2 B (BPlan)

As per the official notification, since the declaration of the UN World Health Organisation on COVID-19 ended on May 5, 2023, it has been decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions. The JEE Mains 2025 exams will be held in its previous structure before the pandemic where section B will have only 5 questions per subject and candidates must attend all five questions without any options for selection in JEE Main 2025 Paper 1, Paper 1A and Paper 2B.

New Changes To JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern

As per the notification, NTA will revert to the exam pattern followed before COVID-19. the revised pattern was introduced in 2021 to cater to the challenges posed by the pandemic during which the exams were being conducted. With the pandemic over, the exam pattern will be the same as was earlier where Section B will contain only 5 (five) questions per subject, and candidates must attempt all 5 (five) questions, without any options for selection.

In a notification issued, the National Testing Agency has launched the website for the JEE Main 2025 exams. According to the official notification, the registration and application process is set to commence soon. The official website for JEE Main 2025 is given below

Check JEE Mains 2025 Exam Schedule

Since the revised JEE Main exam pattern has been scrapped and the exams will be held in the original format, the National Testing Agency will soon issue the complete schedule for the JEE Main 2025 exams. JEE Main will be held in two sessions. The first session exams will be conducted in January 2025 while the second session will be conducted in April 2025.

Going by previous year trends, the application process is expected to begin in November-December 2024. Students who have completed their class 12 qualifying exams in the science stream with mathematics and those appearing for the class 12 qualifying exams in March-April 2025 in the science stream will be eligible to apply for the JEE Main 2025 exams. 

Candidates are advised to keep their certificates and documents ready with them and make necessary arrangements for their registration fee submission process which can be done via credit/ debit cards or net banking and UPI facilities.

Has the NTA Exam Calendar 2025 Released?

The National Testing Agency has yet to issue the exam calendar for the entrance examinations conducted by the agency. NTA conducts the JEE Main, NEET UG, CUET UG, and CUET PG entrance exams along with other entrance exams for various undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. Candidates preparing to appear for the various entrance exams are advised to keep visiting the official website for the latest updates on the NTA Exam Calendar 2025.
