JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, has announced the eligibility criteria for the JEE Advanced 2025 exams. The eligibility has been issued for Indian and foreign nationals appearing for the JEE Advanced exam in 2025.
The JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria have been divided into five criteria. These include Performance in JEE Main 2025, Age Limit, Number of attempts, Appearance in class 12 or equivalent exams and earlier admission at IITs. JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Students interested in taking the JEE Advanced 2025 exams must check through the eligibility criteria carefully before applying. Read through the eligibility criteria given below.
Criterion A1: Performance in JEE Main 2025
According to the eligibility criteria, candidates must be among the top 250,000 successful candidates from all categories in BE/BTech paper 1 of JEE Main 2025. The category-wise percentage of students are - GEN-EWS - 10%
OBC-NCL - 27%
SC - 15%
ST - 7.5%
The remaining 40.5% is open to all

Criterion A2: Age limit
Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

Criterion A3: Number of Attempts
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
Criterion A4: Appearance in Class 12
- Candidates must have appeared for class 12 or equivalent exams for the first time in 2023 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are compulsory subjects.
- Students who have appeared for class 12 or equivalent exam in 2025 or earlier are not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025
- If the examination board declares the class 12 results for 2021-22 on or after September 21, 22, then the candidate of that board who appeared for the class 12 exam in 2022 is eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.
- If the exam board declared the results for 2021-22 before September 21, 2022, but the result of a particular candidate was withheld then the candidate will not be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.
Criterion A5: Admission at IITs Previously
- Candidates applying should not have been admitted to an IIT under any academic programme listed in JoSAA Business Rules of 2024 or earlier irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued the programme or accepted an IIT seat by reporting online or at the reporting centre in the past.
- Candidates whose admissions to IITs were cancelled after joining are also not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.
- Candidates admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2024 can appear on JEE Advanced 2025
- Candidates who were allocated a seat in IIT through JoSAA but did not report or withdraw their admission before the last round are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025.
- Candidates are also required to fulfil the conditions mentioned in Criterion A1 to A4.
