JEE Advanced 2020 Syllabus to remain the same confirms IIT Delhi

 The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has clarified that the syllabus for the JEE Advanced examinations scheduled to be held on September 27, 2020, will not be changed. The clarification was made after reports suggested that the syllabus is expected to undergo changes.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has clarified that the syllabus for the JEE Advanced examinations scheduled to be held on September 27, 2020, will not be changed. The institute was responding to claims which stated that the JEE Advanced 2020 exam syllabus is expected to be changed. 

According to reports, in a  statement related by the institute, it has mentioned that with reference to media reports stating that the JEE Advanced examinations coils see some changes in the examination pattern, IIT Delhi would like to clarify that the institute does not plan on changing the syllabus for the entrance examinations. The institute has further stated that it does not plan to discuss the same in the next  Joint Admission Board (JAB) Meeting which is the regulatory body for the admissions to IITs across the country. 

IIT has however decided to relax the admission criteria for this academic year since the Class 12 examinations were cancelled this year by a few of the boards due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.  The Institute stated that due to the partial cancellation of the class 12 board examinations by a few of the boards, the Joint Admission Board has decided to relax the eligibility criteria for the JEE Advanced qualified candies for this year. 

Union HRDMinister Ramesh Pokhriyal in a series of tweets on social media stated that the JEE Advanced qualified students who have passed the class 12 examinations will be eligible for the admissions irrespective of the marks obtained. Earlier, candidates who wished to seek admissions to IITs were required to secure a minimum score of 75 percent in the class 12 board examination along with qualifying the JEE advanced exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in the qualifying examination. 

Students who qualify the JEEMain exams and are ranked within the top 2,50,000 ranks are also eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced examination. The JEE Main April session examinations have been postponed to be conducted from September 1 to 6, 2020. The exams were postponed due to the pandemic and lockdown.
