
The Institute of Cost Accountants of India in a recent notification has stated its decision to waive off the fee for the students from North-Eastern states and from Kashmir. According to the notification released on the official website, the ICMAI has waived a 75 percent fee for the students from the North-Eastern states and 100 percent and 50 percent for the students from Kashmir. It must be noted that the fee waiver is applicable only for the students applying for the CMA course.

The North-Eastern states for which there will be a 75 percent fee waiver for its students have been announced include Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim, and Tripura.
The decision to waive off the fee for the students from Kashmir and the North Eastern States has been taken in order to promote the course among the students of the region and also participate in the nation-building mission of the government with an aim to reach interior regions.
Fee Waiver for Students from Kashmir
The decision for a fee waiver was taken in the January- February 2020 meeting conducted by the institution. As per the notification, the 100 percent fee waiver is for the first 200 students from Kashmir taking admission for the CMA Foundation, and Intermediate programme while 50 percent fee is waived off for the remaining students from Kashmir. The Secretary, CMA Kaushik Banerjee said that the fees waiver scheme will continue until further notification regarding the same is released from the institution.
