ICAI CA Exam 2021 Postponement: Over 6000 CA aspirants write to PM Modi demanding Postponement of CA July Exams

ICAI CA Exam 2021: Over 6000 students have asked PM Modi to postpone the CA July session exams in view of the COVID-19 situation in the country. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has already released admit cards for these exams.

ICAI CA Exam 2021: Around 6000 students of Chartered Accountancy (CA) have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking postponement of the CA exams for the July session till all the students are vaccinated. A letter has been addressed to the PM for taking suo-motu cognizance of the ICAI CA exams to be conducted offline nationwide, from 5th to 20th July 2021. Over three lakh students will appear for these exams. 

Letter To PM for Postponement of CA July Session 

The letter reads, “CA Students who are going to appear in these exams fall in age group of 18-23 and it will be injustice with these students as well as their family members also if they are pressurized to appear in these 15 Days long physical exams without giving them opportunity to vaccinate themselves."  It further added that since it will be the first all India level post the second wave of Covid-19, over three lakh students will be appearing in these exams from across the country and “the majority of them are not even vaccinated with at least single dose of vaccine."

The letter also addressed reference of Niti Aayog’s Chief Dr VK Paul statement saying “vaccination is the only key to go back to normal” as well as PM Modi’s address to the nation stating vaccination for all those above 18 years. They said the exam should be postponed for “some days”, allowing them to appear in it without any fear.

Opt-Out Option in CA Exams 

Earlier, several CA students had also written a letter to Chief Justice NV Ramana seeking an opt-out option in the CA exams. The students demanded that those who wish to skip the exam should be given an opt-out option with carry-forward benefits. They also demanded an additional attempt for those who failed to appear for the exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Supreme Court Hearing on Additional Exam Centres, Extra Attempt

As per the updates, the Supreme court will hear a plea about the ICAI CA exam 2021 seeking allotment of additional exam centres and postponement of the exam. Earlier, the petition had also demanded an opt-out option for those who will not be able to appear for the July attempt of the CA exam however the same has been approved by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
