Gujarat School Reopening Update: The Gujarat State Government has allowed reopening of Schools for primary class students i.e. for Class 1 to 5 students from 22nd November 2021. The announcement regarding the reopening of primary schools and resumption of offline classes was announced by Gujarat Education Minister Jitu Vaghani. During the announcement, Mr Vaghani also mentioned the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols that will have to be followed by students, teachers and staff members to ensure safe return of the students back to the school campus.
Attendance Not Mandatory
As was done initially with the reopening of schools for students of higher classes, the state government has made not made attendance mandatory for primary class students as of now. This means that only those students and parents who voluntarily want to attend the offline or physical classes will have to do so for now.
Parents’ Consent Mandatory
Another common condition that has to be satisfied for resumption of offline classes is the consent of parents. As of now, all primary class students who want to attend school are required to present a consent letter from their parents allowing them to do so.
Online Classes to Continue
With attendance not being mandatory and parent’s consent required for offline classes; students who chose to remain at home will be allowed to continue their studies through online classes. All schools will have to make the necessary provisions to ensure that students are given an option to attend online classes and that their academic learning continues as was being done earlier.
COVID-19 Guidelines
To ensure safe return of the students to the schools, all students and staff members are required to follow some basic COVID-19 guidelines and protocols. This includes wearing of masks, use of sanitisers and maintaining social distancing. In addition to this, students are also not allowed to share personal items such as stationary, food items.
