Delhi School and Colleges to Reopen: Looking at the COVID-19 situation abating in the National Capital, the DDMA has permitted reopening of schools and colleges in the national capital from 7th February 2022 onwards. According to the official announcement, offline classes and physical lecture have been allowed to resume for School student of Class 9 to 12 as well as for College and University students. The decision about Delhi School and College Reopening was taken at the DDMA Review meeting held today morning. With reopening of schools, the authority has relaxed the timings of Night Curfew in Delhi as well.

School Reopening in Strict Compliance with COVID-19 Guidelines

While there has been significant improvement in the COVID-19 situation in Delhi, the situation still remains quite concerning with several cases being identified daily. Therefore, to ensure safe reopening of schools in Delhi, strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines have been recommended by the DDMA. Some of the key guidelines that are to be followed for Delhi School Reopening are as follows:

  • Offline Classes for Senior Students: For now, schools have been opened only for students who are in their senior classes i.e., Class 9 to 12 only. Online classes and virtual learning activities will continue for students of Class 1 to 8, as usual.
  • Teachers Vaccination Mandatory: All teachers who would be conducting physical lectures at Delhi Schools have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 mandatorily. Teachers who are not inoculated against COVID-19 will not be allowed on campus.
  • Social Distancing, Masks Mandatory: Key precautionary measures against the virus i.e., Social Distancing and Wearing of Masks as well as following good hand hygiene on campus are to be followed. School administrators have been directed to make necessary arrangements for the same.
  • Hybrid Education Model: Schools in Delhi have been directed to follow hybrid education model, in which students will have choice about attending physical lectures on campus or continue with the online classes from the safety of their homes.

COVID-19 Curbs Relaxed in Delhi

In addition to announcing reopening of schools and colleges from 7th February, the Delhi Government also relaxed a few more curbs and restrictions imposed in January following the outbreak of 3rd wave of COVID-19. The key among them are:

Relaxation in Night Curfew Timings: The timings for Night Curfew in Delhi has been relaxed by 1 hour and it will be applicable from 11 PM to 5 AM in the morning

Gyms to Reopen: Gyms and Fitness Centres in Delhi have been allowed to reopen with restrictions

Private Offices Allowed with 100% Staff: Private Offices have been allowed to resume operations with 100% operational capacity

No Masks for Single Drivers: Another key announcement following DDMA meeting has been about relaxation in wearing of masks for single drivers in car
