DUTA College Teachers Salary Released: As per the latest update, Arvind Kejriwal lead AAP Government has released a total sum of Rs 18.25 crore as salary payment for faculty and staff members of 12 DU colleges based in the national capital. According to reports, the payment has been released by the Delhi Government will be used by the 12 Colleges affiliated to University of Delhi to pay the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff members. Delhi Government confirmed that the ‘grant-in-aid’ has been released on Thursday and that it was only meant to be used payment of salaries.
DUTA terms ‘Grant-in-Aid’ inadequate
The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has termed the release of grant-in-aid to the 12 constituent colleges of Delhi University as inadequate during the current circumstances. The association also said that it will take up the matter further and decide future course of action on it after having an internal discussion. Meanwhile, the association has urged colleges to put to grants to use as quickly as the colleges receive them and salaries should be disbursed to the concerned teachers soon.
Issue About Teachers’ Salary
The issue about the payment of salaries to teachers and faculty members of Delhi University Colleges is a long standing one between the Delhi Government and DUTA. Delhi government has asked the varsity to form governing bodies in colleges that are partially or fully funded by the state government. With the formation of regulatory bodies at college level, the state government has refused to release salaries of the staff members. Last month, DUTA had also called for a day-long hunger strike to protest against the non-payment of salaries.
