Schools Closed In UP: Given the harsh cold, dense fog, and severe cold weather, schools in Lucknow and Agra are closed for students from classes 1 to 8. The District Magistrates have issued an order for the closure of schools in Lucknow till January 27, 2024, and in Agra until January 24, 2024.
The order issued by the Lucknow DM further directed all schools from classes nursery to 12 to close and operate online mode. Instructions have also been given to strictly follow this order. On the other hand, the District Magistrate of Agra has stated that schools from nursery to class 8 will remain closed till January 24, 2024. Timings for classes 9 to 12 have also changed. The mentioned classes will be conducted from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm in Agra.
Lucknow DM’s Instructions For Schools
To minimize the impact of cold weather conditions and extended breaks on students’ education, the District Magistrate has instructed schools to run online classes. The compulsion to wear school uniforms has also been abolished. Students can go to school wearing warm clothes.
School principals and heads have also been instructed to install heaters to control the temperature of the classrooms. Moreover, under no circumstances should children be made to sit in open grounds for pre-board and practical examinations.
Schools in Lucknow up to class 8 are closed from December 28, 2024. The weather conditions started deteriorating from the beginning of January. Considering the harsh weather conditions, parents and students were looking forward to the extended holiday. The latest notice by the District Magistrate will bring minor relief to schools, students and parents.
