SC Hearing on CBSE 12th Exam 2021: The suspense around CBSE Class 12 Exam 2021 continues to deepen further, as the apex court today decided to adjourn the hearing by another two days i.e. until 3rd June 2021. The hearing was adjourned after the Central Government informed the court that final decision on CBSE 12th Exam 2021 will be taken in next two days. During the hearing held today at 11 AM, the counsel representing the Central Government asked for two days i.e. until Thursday, to decide on conducting the CBSE Class12 Exam 2021.

CBSE 12th Exam Decision on 3rd June - Live Update @ 11;20 AM: Case Adjourned till 3rd June

Following the representation from the Central Government seeking two days’ time to take decision on holding the CBSE 12th Exam 2021, the apex court has decided to adjourn the case hearing until 3rd June 2021. While adjourning the case, the court noted that "You are free to take whatever decision. But there is hope expressed by Petitioner that policy adopted last year can be adopted this year," says the Special Bench. "If Government is departing from last year decision then give tangible reasons.”

Following the representation from the counsel of the Central Government, the apex court bench has noted that the petition has requested that last year’s formula for tabulating the CBSE 12th Result 2021 should be implemented keeping in mind the pandemic. Therefore, in case the Central Government decides to hold the exam, it should have some very ‘tangible’ reasons to do so. The bench noted that “if Government is departing from last year decision then give tangible reasons."

The counsel representing the central government and the CBSE Board at the hearing informs the SC Bench that the Union Government will take a final decision in the next few days with respect to Class 12 board exams. The counsel also asks for two days’ time from the court to take this decision, following which it will be informed to the bench. "Give us time till Thursday and Government will come with final decision” says the Centre.

Petition Hearing Lined up at 11 AM

As per reports, the apex court is expected to hear the plea seeking cancellation of CBSE 12th Exam 2021 today at 11 AM in the morning. Earlier, on 28th May, SC bench comprising of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari had adjourned the plea hearing as the petitioner had not served an advanced copy on the standing counsel for the CBSE. Following this, the petition was lined up for hearing on 31st May 2021 i.e. today.

CBSE 12th Exam 2021 Date Sheet on 1st June

As per the details shared by the exam authority, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the details of the date sheet for the upcoming exams on 1st June 2021. This was convedy by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishnak’ after conclusion of a high-level cabinet meeting held with the State Education Ministers and Education Secretaries last week on the topic of holding the pending Class 12 Board Exams.

Media reports have hinted that CBSE might look at holding Class 12 Exams in curtailed format i.e. for only key subjects in the wake of the pandemic. Alternatively, the board is also looking at curtailing the timeline for exams and also change the exam format to only include objective questions in the exam paper. However, these options are right now only choices presented by the board and final decision on it is expected soon.
