CBSE 10th Result 2021: As per the updates, a petition has been filed in Delhi High Court asking to direct all the schools affiliated by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board to publish the rationale document for the criteria released for the preparation of class 10th result on their respective websites. They must publish the same before calculating the result and uploading it on the CBSE portal. As per the plea, this will bring transparency to the evaluation process.

Petition Filed by Justice for All

The petition has been filed in Delhi High Court filed by Justice for All through advocates Shikha Sharma Bagga and Khagesh B Jha. The plea has been moved in an ongoing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that sought direction for modification in evaluation policy for class 10 students, based on the internal assessments conducted by each school. The application is scheduled to be heard today on 28th June by the vacation bench of the Delhi High Court.

It stated, "It is respectfully prayed from this court to pass an interim order to direct all the schools affiliated by the board to publish the rationale document for devised criteria for the assessment of students of class Xth on their respective websites, before calculating the result and uploading the same on the CBSE portal, to bring transparency, also so that the students may access it and could raise their grievances with the board well in time along with the sagacious grievance redressal mechanism by the board for the students."

About the Petition

The plea stated that in case of any mistake by the teacher while entering the marks, there is no way to address any grievance redressal, hence, releasing the rationale document, would increase transparency for students. As per the plea, “students may access it and could raise their grievances with the board well in time along with the sagacious grievance redressal mechanism by the board for the students."

It further added that in the case of any mistake in entry by the teacher there is neither any grievance redressal and a student have to pay a heavy cost in terms of their academic career due to even inadvertent typing error of a teacher in his/her absence without having any role of his/her.

CBSE Class 10th Evaluation Criteria

According to the evaluation criteria for the CBSE class 10 marks, out of a total of 100 marks, 20 marks will be based on internal assessment and 80 marks on the basis of their performance in various exams conducted by the school throughout the year. The 80 marks will be divided further into three sections that comprise 10 marks for periodic/unit test, 30 marks for half-yearly/ mid-term exams, and 40 marks for pre-board exams. For schools that have conducted more than one exam in each category, the result committee will decide how much marks will be given to each exam.

Also, students who are not satisfied with the marks will be allowed to sit for a written exam, when the pandemic situation normalises. The board has also allowed schools to hold a one-on-one telephonic assessment with students who could not appear for any exams throughout the year.
