CBSE Board Exam 2020 Passing Criteria: CBSE Board has released a detailed notification confirming the passing criteria required by students to clear the upcoming CBSE Board Exam 2020. CBSE released the detailed notification on 8th November 2019 under the banner of ‘List of subjects having practical / project / internal assessment components for Class X and Class XII, 2020 examination’. In the notification, CBSE board has confirmed the passing criteria for all the forms of exams i.e. practical exams, internal assessment and theory papers.
CBSE Board Exam 2020 – Passing Criteria
According to the notification, the CBSE Board Exam 2020 passing criteria for both practical and theory exams have been retained the same as earlier. To clear Class 10 or Class 11 Board exam, students need to score an aggregate of 33% marks, taking both internal assessment and theory into account, for each subject. On similar lines, students need to score, a minimum of 33% marks in both theory and practical examinations to pass the CBSE Board Exam 2020.
Passing Criteria NOT Revised by CBSE
One of the key concerns with regards to this notification is that many media agencies have misreported this as revision in the passing criteria by CBSE Board. This has led to confusion among the students who are poised to appear for CBSE 10th Board Exam 2020 and CBSE 12th Board Exam 2020. However, the confusion stems from misreading of the notification. The notification merely reconfirms the passing marks and criteria for the CBSE Board Exam 2020 and doesn’t propose any revised passing marks for the exam.
Subject-wise Break-up of Marks Provided
The key topic that the notification is focused on is about the break-up of internal assessment and practical examination marks for different subject. As part of the notification, CBSE Board has released the detailed subject-wise list of marks for the CBSE Board practical / project / internal assessment marks vis-à-vis theory papers. According to the notification, the subject-wise break-up of practical and theory papers marks have also been retained the same as last year.
