Assam Schools Closed 2021: The Assam government has ordered all schools to remain closed even after the summer vacation due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state. Also, to maintain continuity in students' learning process, the school authorities are asked to take steps to conduct online classes. The Secondary Education Department's Principal Secretary B Kalyan Chakravarthy has ordered officials of district administrations to arrange for online classes.
The Secondary Education Department's Principal Secretary asked directors of secondary and elementary education, all inspectors of schools, other officials of the department and heads of government and private educational institutes to take steps to conduct online classes until further orders or till the reopening of these institutes. The order was issued on Monday and came into force with immediate effect.
Early Summer Vacation in Assam
The summer vacation in schools in Assam usually starts from 1st July. However, this year the government had advanced the one-month summer vacation in schools from 15th May amid a raging second wave of COVID-19. The summer vacation ended on 14th June. Apart from schools, all the educational institutes in the state, including primary, higher secondary schools, colleges, and universities were closed for the safety of the students. Though all the physical classes have been suspended in the state, the Assam government has ordered schools and colleges to continue studies with online classes, so that students do not suffer any academic loss due to the pandemic.
Assam Board Exams 2021
The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) is likely to conduct exams from 15th July 2021. As per the earlier reports, Assam Board Exam 2021 for class 10 and 12 is expected to take place for two to three papers. Also, male and female students will write the exams on separate dates to ensure social distancing.

Also, as per the official notice, the Assam board exam 2021 for class 10 and 12 only be held if COVID -9 positivity rate in the state will come down to 2%. However, due to delay in the decision, students across the state have moved to the Supreme Court of India seeking cancellation of the Assam Board Exam 2021.
